Retail

Merci in Paris.

How lovely is this interior? A renovated, nineteenth-century textile factory becomes a clothes and crafts boutique. Exposed beams frame the space which includes a library, restaurant, and perfume bar.

Best part about this place. Merci secures product donations from different designers (think Stella McCartney) and all of the proceeds from these sales are given to charity.

Sartorialist

Last night I had the fine pleasure of meeting Scott Schuman, The Sartorialist, at the First Anniversary Party of FW Magazine. Mr. Schuman was such a pleasure to talk too and even joked around with me when asking about my favorite Interior Designers. Although getting my book signed was truly the high point of the night {got lucky that this occurred before the event was open to the public, the lines exploded at that point} -- I would actually have to say that the party itself {which was held at Masa 14 - the newest hotspot along 14th street} kinda blew my mind. DC is a fantastic city but it is definitely not synonymous with the word fashionable. Yet, after the FW party last night -- I may have to start to reconsider this notion. The district is finally seeing the fashion lights.

Thank you so much for the invite FW - it was truly a pleasure.

Oh, and for those who asked -- I wore black knee-high suede boots, a black dress, and a vintage leather jacket with fringe.

Wallpaper

I love the stories told by wallpaper {or at least about the previous owners as you tear it off, decade by decade} and was really pleased to see this story about the Mallett Antiques wallpaper exhibition "Wallpaper in Vogue". The article written by Stephanie La Cava {who is one of my favorite Vogue writers} also mentions a new book out by Carolle Thibaut-Pomerantz: Wallpaper: A History of Style and Trends {Rizzoli}. I guess we all know what I will be saving up for next...

I always wonder who walked up and down a staircase before me...

I also happen to have a fantastic night club design/concept involving a staircase. Let me know if you want to hear about it.

Jenna

So, once again I am way late on posting about the interior of Jenna Lyons, creative director at Jcrew, brooklyn brownstone. But, while going through my sketchbook today I decided that someone had to re-visit this gem. I love everything about this home - the color palate (give me dark, rich walls any day), the architecture, the details... Oh and did I mention, the closet?
