Red

Red is a color that research suggests can have a negative impact on humans both mentally and physically. It is a color we associate with danger, with the possibility of increasing our heart rates - stimulating an almost fight-or-flight response. Although, I do have to agree with the overwhelming amount of research on the color red - I sometimes find the opposite to be true when it comes to artwork. For example, what do you think of this light installation by artist Stephen Antonakos?

By the way - Stephen Antonakos and his wife Naomi Spector have a beautiful home that was featured in Elle Decor before. See it here {via} Apartment Thearapy...

Alice

I love photographs that tell stories, and well, Annie Leibovitz always does just that {see her take on Romeo and Juliet}. This series featured in an old issue of Vogue is her take on the story Alice and Wonderland, using some quite well-known fashion designers to play the parts - Christian Lacroix, Karl Lagerfeld, and John Galliano to name a few. Who else can you find?

I am really excited to watch the Annie Leibovitz documentary when it finally gets here via Netflix, but until then, sigh, this will just have to work.

I need, I want, I love.

Polaroid

My polaroid has finally arrived {the SX-70, a big thanks to Susannah Conway from Ink on my Fingers for her help} and its absolutely beautiful - even the leather smells good. I have been working on making some adjustments to the camera so it will take the 600 formal film and have been practicing the lighting so that the my photographs stop coming out so yellow {any tips are appreciated}. As soon as I figure it all out, I promise to share.

And this is what I am going to do with them all {via} Rita Kong's West Village Apartment on This is Glamorous...

Thank you to everyone who told me to where to find one!

Fall

My favorite season of all... Happy First Day of Fall

Ingo

I was introduced to the creative genius Ingo Maurer in a lighting design course and since then have been captivated by his installations and luminaires {see sketches here}. Right now I am fascinated by his Lacrime del Pescatore installation from Milan Design Week 2009. Lacrime del Pescatore is translated to mean "Tears of a Fisherman".

Pink!

Described as "a well controlled fantasy", the home of Mery and Clorinda Etienne - film set decorators - is normally not my sort of thing. But for some reason when I saw this spread, I could not stop thinking about how fun it would be to live there. Maybe somewhere inside I do have a soft spot for the color pink after all.

Fashioniture

I like fashion and I like furniture. Combine the two and you get a skirt by fashion designer Hussein Chalayan.

Although this is not his newest venture in transformative fashion {I believe it is from his Winter 2000 collection} - it is still my favorite.

Darryl

I had a unique opportunity to meet Darryl Carter last summer in the Hamptons at my Aunt's home {did I mention she is a wonderful Interior Decorator in NYC}. Unfortunately, I hardly said a word because I was star-struck and speechless since I had just seen this spread in Elle Decor.

If you ever get the chance to meet him, please tell him I love his work.

Also saw this fantastic post today on Tord Boontje - a huge inspiration of mine.
